Backpacks
For Food
A community program for the Cornwall Central School District
About Us:
BFF began at a community-wide meeting in May of 2014. The initial attendance of 40 interested persons grew to a volunteer staff of 100. By the end of our first school year we were sending home 50 backpacks weekly. By the second semester, all of the schools in the Cornwall Central School District were participating in the BFF program. The district includes three elementary schools, one middle school and one high school.
BFF remains most appreciative that initial contributions from the Christian Martinisi Memorial Fund were donated to the Backpacks For Food program. Christian Martinisi, a loving, sweet boy passed away unexpectedly in a tragic accident at the age of 6 in 2014. Christian was a very generous child who loved life. He was honest, kind and always thought of others. Giving to others gave him great joy. This BFF program continues to support the community he loved so much and reflects his giving spirit. Backpacks For Food, in a some small way, helps Christian’s legacy of giving to live on.
